General Post Office Building, Perth

DEM assisted C&W to check and update the building services systems in the GPO Building in the centre of Perth. This is a heritage building and is consequently subject to a number of fire engineered solutions as well as having been subject to numerous fit-outs and changes over the years.

DEM assisted by interpreting the services documentation, interviewing the designers and generating a fire cause and effect matrix such that effective and thorough testing of the safe operation of the building can be done in accordance with AS1851. A full fire test was conducted overnight while the building was unoccupied. During this test all life safety system behaviour was checked and verified under differing scenarios. A number of issues were identified and DEM assisted C&W to resolve the issues and manage the remedial works.
