St Ives AC refit

DEM was engaged as mechanical consultant for this refurbishment project at St Ives aged care facility in Perth’s southern suburbs.

The existing air-conditioning systems were aging and beginning to fail, and the client was concerned about replacing broken units in an ad-hoc and reactive manner. We initially conducted a general review to assess the system conditions and identified high-, medium-, and low-priority units recommended for replacement over a period of two years. The existing air-conditioning units are no longer manufactured, and replacement models required new refrigerant pipes, posing challenges with access to ceiling voids and building risers. We developed a replacement strategy that met all the challenges, while minimising disruption to the building, and ensuring installation compliance for a full manufacturer’s warranty.
