Curtin University B105 Library Renewal
The Curtin University Library was a $110M renewal project in a 'live' building environment.
The project consisted of 6 floors of renewal, as well as 2 new floors. This is perhaps the most widely used and important building on the campus, receiving 15,000 visitors daily. The building was required to be available for use by both students and staff during the construction period.
DEM carried out numerous risk and safety reviews during the design development phase. Further, we added value by assisting with the understanding of the existing fire matrix and how it could be adapted over the construction period to provide a continuous and compliant solution to today's standards.
During the commissioning phase, DEM work closely with the head contractor (Lendlease) to manage the commissioning outcomes. DEM chaired various commissioning meetings and workshops to iron out key project dependencies with the endevour of providing a smooth witnessing and handover period. At handover, DEM coordinated witnessing sessions of HVAC, security, fire, energy management and hydraulic systems to validate the commissioning process as well as the functionality in accordance with design.
DEM provided 24-months of coordinated tuning analysis of both the HVAC systems and energy monitoring. DEM was key in providing structure and direction to the wider tuning team with the main intention of collating end-user/stakeholder feedback and data analysis into agreed tuning actions.
